New Parents

Being a new parent is a life changing event, often in the best way imaginable!

Even the strongest relationships are strained during the transition to parenthood. Expecting a new baby comes with a lot of challenges; lack of sleep, never-ending housework and new fiscal concerns can lead to profound stress and a decline in marital satisfaction — all of which affect baby’s care. The Bringing Baby Home program teaches couples how to:

  • Increase friendship, closeness, and intimacy in their relationship

  • Deal effectively with conflict

  • Involve both parents in infant care and parenting

  • Improve the quality of parent-infant interaction

  • Recognize the psychological and emotional needs of their child

Research-based Bringing Baby Home workshops are designed for newly expectant and newly appointed parents to prepare couples for life with baby. In a relaxed and supportive environment, parents learn to strengthen their relationship and foster baby’s development during this beautiful yet challenging time. The best predictor of marital adjustment post-baby is the quality of friendship in the marriage. The Bringing Baby Home workshop teaches the skills needed to encourage healthy, supportive family relationships, taught in 4 half day or weekly/biweekly sessions working alongside me as your facilitator and educator as I offer one on one guidance and support.
